Creating a Georgia Map

In Class: Today the students were given two handouts. One was a blank outline of the state of Georgia the other a list of elements including: cities, rivers, lakes, natural wonders, and sea islands in Georgia. The students had to locate a list of the aforementioned and place them correctly on the map. This will help reinforce the work we have done all week in class. The students will have today and Monday, August 25th, to complete this work.

Homework: Begin to review all material we have covered this week for our first Quiz next Wednesday.

And, May all the good news be yours!!

Mental Map

In Class: Today the students drew (from memory) a map of Georgia and tried to list the regions, cities, lakes, rivers, highways, and anything else they know about Georgia. Once they finished (using a large map of Georgia) we went over their mental map to see how much they knew. As well, the students were given three handouts listing all of the GPS (state standards) that they will be tested on next year on the CRCT test. We briefly talked about this and the students were told to keep these sheets in their notebook all year as a quick reference to what we will be studying.
